Each person can be a member of more than one group. To see which groups you belong to, open your profile and look for this section:
The Mailing List groups control how much email you receive. You can add or remove yourself to/from groups by pressing the blue gear icon. You get a page like this:
To add yourself to a mailing list, select it in the left box. You can select more than one - don't worry about the 'Members' and 'Non-Members', just make sure you choose the branch(es) that you're interested in. Click the blue (right) arrow to add them into the right box, then press the Save button.
To remove yourself from a mailing list, select it in the right box. You can select more than one. Click the grey (left) arrow to remove them from the right box, then press the Save button.
When you receive an email it has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. If you click on this link, it unsubscribes you from emails for just that group (the group that the email was sent to). It does not remove you from the group.
If you unsubscribe, but keep on getting emails, it is probably because you are a member of more than one group. In this case you can either go through and unsubscribe again from the new email that you received, or you can remove yourself from groups using the blue gear icon shown above.
