We all know Australia used to make cars, and then after some goading from the then treasurer, we didn't. But with soaring demand for EVs and their supporting infrastructure, are we on the edge of having another crack at making vehicles again in Australia? What policy settings need to be made to encourage investment in the field? Should we be looking at subsidising such an industry like every other manufacturing nation?
