Post Event Brief: Electrify Boroondara, Sunday 12 October 2025

AEVA had a fantastic day at Electrify Boroondara! We had an outdoor table with four EVs on show: a Volvo XC40 Recharge, a Tesla, a Nissan Leaf, and the eye-catching Hyundai Ioniq 5N in Racing Blue, which powered the BBQ using its V2L feature. Our indoor stall was just as busy, with a steady flow of visitors all day.

The crowd loved seeing what EVs can do, especially when lunch was cooked by battery power. That’s where the new AEVA favourite, the “Electric Sausage”, was born! It was a fun and practical way to show off the possibilities of electric transport.

Inside, kids made the most of our colouring corner whilst adults chatted with our volunteers about all things EV. It added a great family-friendly feel and kept the energy up all day.

Initial numbers suggest more than 1500 people attended throughout the day, with plenty of interest in home charging, long-distance travel and running costs.

We had a great turnout of volunteers, perfect weather, and lots of positive conversations with the community. Dr Monique Ryan, local member for Kooyong, stopped by to chat with our team and show her support for electrification in the area.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success.

METRONET will be holding another open day event to celebrate the reopening of the Armadale Line. The WA branch plans to utilize the event to promote AEVA and recruit more members.

Please RSVP if you are able to help on the day operate a stand, talking to the public about who we are and what we do. (Leave in the RSVP comments specific availability if applicable).

Specific location to be confirmed with METRONET, however the two main event locations are the Long Park (underneath the elevated rail between Carlisle and Oats St Stations) and Byford Station. A confirmation email will be sent at a later date to volunteers with specific details.
