Description

AEVA’s National Conference will be held this year on Thursday, 13 November, in Melbourne at Victoria University’s Footscray Park campus. The conference is adjacent to the Everything Electric Show, held at the Melbourne Showgrounds on 14-16 November 2025.

This year’s theme is Embracing the Early Majority. The innovators got the ball rolling, and the early adopters have led the way. Now is the time for the early majority to embrace electric transport en masse and accelerate the transition into the mainstream.

The early majority are motivated by convenience, practicality and price, and so a different approach to encouraging the uptake of electro-mobility is required for the next decade. New policy, new approaches and compelling stories are needed to maintain demand for electric cars, bikes, buses, boats, trucks and trains.

The AEVA conference covers topics such as government policy to encourage transport electrification; marketing the electric life to a new cohort; e-scooters, e-bikes and non-car electromobility; trends in vehicle preference and availability; responding to EV disinformation; V2X and the energy ecosystem; charging infrastructure for strata and apartments; freight and heavy vehicle electrification; autonomous EVs and more!

The Conference program can be found here.

The AEVA National Annual General Meeting will not be held as part of the Conference: instead, the AGM will be online event on Sunday 9 November.

Conference sessions: The plenary sessions will be held in Lecture Theatre M001 at Victoria University's Footscray Park Campus. Parallel sessions (in the afternoon) will also make use of Lecture Theatre D231, which is a short walk away.

Part-day attendance: Discounts are available for delegates who can attend only part of the Conference.  For example, those attending for the morrning or afternoon only (plus lunch) are able to receive a $75 discount on the standard pre-GST registration fee.  For more details, contact the National Secretary (secretary@aeva.asn.au

Catering will be provided by the VUBar, located conveniently in Building M.  Delegates will recieve tea/coffee on arrival, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea in the foyer space outside Lecture Theatre M001.

A Conference Dinner will be held on the evening of 13 November.  You can find the details (and register) here.

Those attending the National Conference may also wish to register for Everything Electric, to be held on 14-16 November. AEVA members are able to claim a 20% discount when buying tickets for Everything Electric in Melbourne.  The promo code can be found here. Please do not share this code with a non-member of AEVA

Some delegates may also wish to attend the ALGA Roads Congress, to be held in Bendigo on 11-12 November.

Delegates who are driving an EV from interstate are encouraged to enter their vehicle and journey for the Glen George Trophy

We'll see you in Melbourne!

Travel by train: The Campus can be reached from the Melbourne CBD by train to Footscray Station, followed by a 10 minute walk (Leeds St., Ryan St., Nicholson St., Ballarat Rd).

Travel by bus: You can catch a Route 216 or 220 bus from Melbourne CBD.  For example, Route 216 buses depart Bourke St/Queen St at 7.51, 8.03 and 8.16am, and arrive at Leeds St/Hopkins St Footscray at 8.12, 8.25 and 8.38am. Route 220 buses depart Bourke St/Queen St at 7.42, 7.57 and 8.12am, and arrive at Footscray Station/Irving St at 8.07, 8.22 and 8.37am.

Myki card: Interstate visitors who plan to travel by public transport to the Conference (and to Everything Electric) should ensure that they obtain a myki card.  These can be purchased from myki machines at metro railway stations, some accessible tram stops and bus interchanges, from convenience stores such as 7-Eleven, and from other retailers that display the myki sign, including some newsagents and visitor centres.

Travel by car: It is possible to come by private vehicle and park at one of several carparks near the campus:

  • there are two carparks accessible from Maribyrnong Boulevard: one near the Footscray City Rowing Club, and one near the Henry Turner South Reserve Pavilion (check on Google Maps)

  • the Edgewater Carpark is located near the Jensen Reserve BBQ area

  • the Riverbank Parking area: it is unclear if this will be available on 13 November, due to the Spring Racing Carnival at Flemington.  If it is available, you can find the parking map here. It is then a 10 minute walk to the campus - or you can use the shuttle bus

  • there is street parking available near the campus.

You can pay for parking by downloading the EasyPark app, creating an account (including your vehicle's registration plate and payment method), entering the location number found on the parking signs, and selecting your parking duration.
