Nominee statements:
Steven Du - Nominee for NSW Branch Chair:
"Over the years, I've been proud to serve our community as a passionate EV advocate, engaging with the public, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to promote the transition to sustainable transport. My background includes roles as NSW Vice Chair of AEVA and State Representative for the Tesla Owners Club of Australia, as well as ongoing involvement in events such as Everything Electric, the Smart Energy Expo, and various grass-roots and council-led sustainability initiatives.
As Chair, I would be honoured to help grow AEVA's influence, visibility, and impact across the state—building on the work we've done while fostering an inclusive, informative, and action-driven community for both long-time EV owners and those just beginning their journey.
I greatly value the contributions of all AEVA members and look forward to the opportunity to continue working together to accelerate Australia's clean transport future.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or would like to discuss my nomination further."
John August - Nominee for NSW Branch Chair:
"I nominate myself for chair of the NSW branch having previously been on committee for many years and actively involved in past events.
For example, I "drove" the trip to Bundanoon during the closing days of Covid lockdowns. More recently, I've investigated going along to the St. Ives coffee and cars, and know that we can set up an AEVA stand there. I want to bring back the spirit I recall from several years ago - of social events and social interaction, discussion of technology, EVs and conversions. While it is important to continue
advocacy, I want to bring back the balance to the spirit of AEVA I recall when I first joined. While I'm certainly continuing to pursue the St. Ives initiative - I've had some difficulties getting the "ducks lined up" to run a proper event - as Chair my efforts would be endorsed and I would have a lot more energy to give to other such events."
Julie Perrissel - Nominee for NSW Branch Vice Chair:
"I really enjoy being part of the community and would be grateful for the opportunity to contribute more formally to AEVA NSW. I believe I can help raise awareness, build connections with local groups as more Australians switch to EVs, and support AEVA in strengthening its position as the leading member organisation for EV drivers in Australia."
Jamie Lovick - Nominee for NSW Branch Secretary:
"Having spent a number of years in the NSW Branch Secretary role, focusing on events, lifting AEVA's image via social media, and with marketing materials, and promoting AEVA to EV related businesses and industry at every opportunity, I would like the opportunity to continue to contribute to AEVA's growth."
Michael Day - Nominee for NSW Branch Secretary and National Representative to the board:
"Since 2005, I have held various positions with AEVA at both the National and State level. I currently serve as NSW Chairperson, NSW National Representative on the AEVA National Board, and AEVA National Treasurer.
At the State level, I have led efforts to raise the visibility and profile of AEVA NSW Branch resulting in notable membership growth and industry recognition.
Nationally, I contributed to AEVA's organizational restructure, constitutional updates, and strategic planning across communication, advocacy, membership, governance, and financial resilience.
As NSW Secretary and continuing NSW National Representative, I will focus on building a purpose-driven local Branch while furthering AEVA's National strategic objectives."
Nicholas Furner - Nominee for the NSW Branch National Representative to the board:
"I only recently joined the AEVA, but I've been involved with e-mobility and electrification for some time. I was responsible for EV policy as former Treasurer Kean's Energy and Climate Change advisor, smart and bidirectional charging as specialist advisor to the ESB, consultant to ARENA and AEMO, and I'm now advising a start-up working to accelerate EV adoption for the mass-market. I also have experience with not-for-profit leadership, in elected non-executive director positions on the national Board of the Australian Institute of Energy and the Council of the University of NSW, in addition to active committee membership with other for-purpose organisations. I'd be grateful for the opportunity to use my passion, experience and expertise to help drive the AEVA forward."
