We know EVs

The AEVA is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to switching Australia's transport networks to electric as quickly as possible.

Media Releases & News

  • AEVA calls for unrestricted access to EV technical information

Treasury is undertaking a review of the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme. AEVA made a submission to this review in which it advocated that technical information for motor vehicle repairs should be as accessible as possible to repairers and to vehicle owners at minimal cost. It also urged that the Scheme should not be used as an indirect means of restricting who can work on EVs.

  • E-rideables: Don't ban them, license them!

The AEVA has made a submission to the West Australian parliamentary inquiry into e-rideables calling for any high-speed e-bikes to be licensed as mopeds or motorcycles, rather than an outright ban.

  • Once again: Road User Charging must be universal

EV consumer group, the Australian Electric Vehicle Association (AEVA) has once again insisted that any future road user charge (RUC) must be mass-multiplied, and not single out EVs. The federal Treasurer is working on an EV-specific RUC with state treasurers, and plans on trialing a scheme for electric heavy vehicles. Dr Chris Jones, National President of the AEVA says that road user charging is not a new idea, and the AEVA would welcome being part of the discussion. But if the goal is to encourage EV uptake while addressing the limitations of fuel excise, the RUC must be universal, and include vehicle weight.
